  On 2nd December 1866, three Parsees residing in Calcutta, met at the BanajiAgyari located at Ezra Street to form a general purpose fund to cater to the welfare of the Parsee Community in Calcutta. Messrs. Seth ManackjeeRustomjee, CowasjeePestonjee and NowrojeePestonjeeDhalla were appointed as the first Trustees. The then small Community subscribed to, and raised, an initial fund of Rs.12,297/-   The original Deed of Trust was dated 31st October 1867. A century later, with the increase in the Parsee population in the city and to meet the changed requirements of the Community, it was felt that the Trust Deed needed some amendments and additions and the High Court of Calcutta on 4th September 1968 sanctioned certain amendments in the original Trust Deed. Till then, the Trustees, once elected, held office for life. Under the amendments future Trustees once elected could hold office for a period of seven years only, although they would be eligible for re-election, and the number of Trustees was also increased from 3 to 5.   Some other additions were also sanctioned by the Court clarifying the procedure for election of Trustees, as well as their powers and duties.     The Trust manages and administers the following properties :-  
  1. ManackjeeRustomjeeDharamsalla at 9 Bow Street (1909)
  1. Khorshed Madan Mansion at 84, Lenin Sarani (1928) with 25 flats
           and 4 Shops  
  1. Property at 6, Grant Lane (1940) with 10 flats
  2. JamshedjiRustomjiSaklatRavangah (1934) and NavajbaiAnnexe at 1,   Saklat Place (1954) with 6 flats
  1. The Tower of Silence (Dokhma) at Beliaghata which was first built in 1822 and the new one which was consecrated in 1912
  1. Property at 52, Chowringhee Road (1957) received as gift from the late Trustee Seth EduljiShapurjiOlpadvala which has a Community Hall which is available to the Parsees for various functions, meetings and community gatherings.
    The Trust has been helping the community by giving assistance towards general Welfare and also assistance for Education, Housing, Medical and Entrepreneurship and generally looks after the needs of the 500 plus Parsees in Kolkata.
