SPCI Father’s Day Celebrations

Few months back we had celebrated mother’s day. We conducted a mother – child sandwich making competition. And I can proudly say that it went off fairly well. Well obviously we couldn’t do the same for the fathers and needed a different plan. So this year for father’s day we decided to celebrate in a more enjoyable way. We planned to bring the fathers out at 10.00 am on a Sunday morning for some father – son/daughter games.

Majority of the Scouts, Guides, Cubs and Bulbuls gathered at Parsee Club along with their respective fathers. We divided everyone into three teams and soon the games began. We started off with a game where each had to blow a balloon and use the air to move a paper glass. The games varied from dodge ball to knocking down a glass with a plastic ball.  Due to good weather, indoor as well as outdoor games were played. It was quite amusing to see the fathers competing and enjoying more than the children. But obviously the children did enjoy too because after all they got to be in a team with their own dad and compete against one another. As the games proceeded it got more interesting and fun. Imagine a tent full of children along with their fathers, cheering and shouting for their team members. Seven unit leaders handling about twenty five people was not an easy task. Explaining the game and then explaining it again for those who weren’t paying attention and then obviously screaming so that everyone could hear the rules and instructions. After a few tiring rounds, we finally ended with refreshments and chocolates for all the children. I can surely say that every boy and girl enjoyed themselves and I hope the fathers did too.
